Folio Printmaking Studio


Having spent 18 months at my studio Alta Lyn Barn in Lynton, I have now moved to Ilfracombe and opened a printmaking studio where I run courses and workshops and Open Access.

Introduction to Printmaking at the Barn, May 2016

Two 6 week courses are available at:  Alta Lyn Barns Studio, Lynton, EX35 6LD

Beginners Oct


Monday 9th May – 20th June 2016 10am – 1pm, (Max. 4)


Wednesday 11th May –15th June 2pm – 5pm, (Max. 4)

No Class on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May

Suitable for beginners or as a refresh.

The course will cover monoprinting, drypoint, chine colle, carborundum and collagraph. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron if you have one (I can provide them), sketchbooks and or ideas or if you want to ‘freestyle’ it when you get there, its up to you!

**Situated on a farm above Lynton with views of the sea – a beautiful location to learn something new this summer in my well equipped print studio where you can try out printmaking in a relaxed atmosphere and bring your ideas to life!**

An Introduction into Print

Print PreparationA 6 week course for beginners
Thursday, 24th October – 6 – 9 pm
All materials included – £150.00
Limitless tea, coffee and biscuits available

This inspiring course offers beginners and those with limited experience of printmaking the opportunity to explore a wide range of printing techniques over a 6 week course. The teaching will be made up of both hands-on training and demonstrations. Techniques will include monoprinting by hand and with a press. relief, collagraphs, drypoint, chine colle and carborundum prints. The course gives an excellent overview of many printing methods and processes with the exception of acid etching.

The studio is well equipped with a Tofko Prof etching press which can print up to A2 size prints and an exciting choice of different inks.
Please bring any ideas with you, sketches etc. you may have, pencils and an apron if you have one.

Getting into Print with Helen Tranckle

Improvers and Experienced (Max 5)


A 6 week course
Thurs Eve: 12th September – 17th October, 6:00 – 9:00 pm, £180 + £20 materials.

Suitable for intermediate to experienced students, this course offers an opportunity to explore print processes in greater depth and discover new techniques. It will also give the more advanced student the chance to pursue their own work.
