#Dis:placed Art Collaboration 2016

Since March 2016 I have been involved in an art collaboration organised by Karen Wicks which included 11 artists throughout the UK.  It has been exciting, very motivating and unique, drawing on a different way of seeing and thinking. Watch this space for the final reveal of responses…




Volume 1:

In this collaboration each artist chose an inspirational location to select an object from that would capture the ‘essence’ of the chosen place.

This object was posted on to another artist to respond to, along with four words to give a clue to the context, but no other indication of the place from which it had been taken.

Every month for four months this cycle continued, with a total of four artists responding to each object.

the responses of each artist were catalogued and reproduced as postcards which were then returned to the source artist.

the process culminated in each piece of work being #re:placed at the original location; The outcome of replacing the artwork is documented as a video.

Introduction to Printmaking at the Barn, May 2016

Monday 9th May – 20th June 2016 10am – 1pm, (Max. 4)


Wednesday 11th May –15th June 2pm – 5pm, (Max. 4)

No Class on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May

Suitable for beginners or as a refresh.

The course will cover monoprinting, drypoint, chine colle, carborundum and collagraph. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron if you have one (I can provide them), sketchbooks and or ideas or if you want to ‘freestyle’ it when you get there, its up to you!

**Situated on a farm above Lynton with views of the sea – a beautiful location to learn something new this summer in my well equipped print studio where you can try out printmaking in a relaxed atmosphere and bring your ideas to life!**

A 5 hour short course introducing beginners to printmaking through monoprint. We will use 4 different methods to create monoprints including additive, subtractive, direct trace drawing and collage/stencil.All materials, notes, tea/coffee and biscuits are included in the price of this workshop. No previous experience of printmaking is required.

I am pleased to offer my print room facilities to experienced printers who are not resident at the Old Sawmills.

The charge for the use of the print room will be on a 4-hourly basis and the cost is £35 per session. The sessions currently available are Thursdays 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 6pm. You are free to book both sessions if desired for the same day.

All materials included and limitless tea, coffee and biscuits.

These inspiring courses offer beginners and those with more experience in printmaking the opportunity to explore a wide range of printing techniques over 6 weeks. Beginners will experience both hands-on training and demonstrations. Techniques will include monoprinting by hand and with a press. relief, collagraphs, drypoint, chine colle and carborundum prints. The course gives an excellent overview of many printing methods and processes with the exception of acid etching.

For the more experienced, there is the opportunity to explore ideas further and also perhaps try out more techniques. These sessions are more self negotiated but include technical help and guidance.

The studio is well equipped with a Tofko Prof etching press which can print up to A2 size prints and an exciting choice of different inks.
Please bring any ideas with you, sketches etc. you may have, pencils and an apron if you have one.
